My most successful commodity route with a viceroy was the Spanish campaign where I had Seville (Pickup 1500 each Cotton/Tobacco) -> Puerto Cabezas (Pickup 1500 each Coffee/Cocoa) -> Maracaibo (Sell it all). If you sell too often to the viceroy, your prices will plummet and you'll basically be paying about 20 gold per unit (or more!) after taking into account production cost. On that note, to optimize fame with the viceroy trading, pick some cities that are about 15 days away from the capitol when producing and selling basic commodities. That's plenty of cotton for a bit, and you'll probably still oversaturate the market even with a couple weavers in town. 4 cotton farms will produce 52.8 cotton per day. This tip goes hand in hand with the first one, because you can only have 20 stops on a trade route and having the same city more than once counts against those stopsÄon't go overboard on raw materials businesses. On the third tab you can check off the items that you want your warehouse to buy from the city or sell to the city, the quantity thresholds and the price floor/ceiling. EDIT: clicking on the warehouse in the city will bring up a screen to change how the warehouse functions. I'm using it as a workaround to first load items from a warehouse, and then the next "stop" is the same city so I use that stop to sell some of the items to the city, because if you own all the businesses in town and have a warehouse, the goods don't get sold to the city. You can place the same city on a trade route more than once. You can, and it'll work, but you can also drill down and really decide what gets to where and which cities will be built up You don't have to visit every city you pass on a trade route.
